Personal Branding for Your Business

Building your own personal brand can be a great growth lever for your businesses. Think about creators who’ve leveraged their platforms and audiences to launch a business, or entrepreneurs who’ve started companies and turned to creating their own personal brand as a marketing tool.

According to Ryan Serhant and his new book, Brand it Like Serhant, here are the biggest takeaways about building your own personal brand:

The skill of the new economy is building your personal brand and leveraging this to build something. Higher education is broken — school’s don’t prioritize this, and some don’t teach it at all.

Entrepreneurs are going to be the future W2 workers. Think about how many young people want to be content creators or start a business versus a traditional career.

Mr Beast even commented on this:

Everyone has a brand, some people find it, some people don’t know they have one, and some people create their own.

Here’s how you find or build your personal brand:

  • You can organically back into the brand that’s been put onto you by others.

OR

  • Define it from the get go and build around it

How do you do this?

  1. Understand your core identity

  2. What is you AND

    • For Ryan his AND is: real estate AND media

Once you define this, you can amplify and create consistent content around it.

The Small Team Advantage

Are solo businesses really more nimble than a large team? We looked at different entrepreneurs with small teams or solo businesses and learned that they’re able to operate and expand their businesses with a much more flexible and adaptable approach.

There are a TON of people in this space who are absolutely crushing it:

Ali Abdaal built a $5 million YouTube empire (that now has over 5 million subscribers).

The Founder of Morning Brew, Alex Lieberman, bootstrapped a writing agency to a staggering $1.5 million in annual revenue.

Simran Kaur (Girls That Invest) successfully built a media business empowering female investors.

Sahil Lavingia (the founder of Gumroad) runs a $20 million software business.

Packy McCormick built his wildly successful, multimillion-dollar newsletter business (without relying on a ton of paid ads).

Tenisha Williams went from 0 to a $600M real estate empire in just five years.

Sophia Amoruso was able to leverage media to raise and build a one woman venture fund.

Saagar Enjeti (from Breaking Points) built a loyal viewer base and scaled a news network without any ad or brand sponsorships.

And there are so many more stories like this!

We actually convinced all the people above and more, to share the TRUE behind-the-scenes for their business model and how they were able to both generate revenue and operate their business without a large team supporting them.
